Jeff Cantin, President +
Jeff Cantin is founder and president of Solar Alternatives, Inc in New Orleans, an independent energy resiliency firm. He previously led electrical contractor Bayou Power, Inc and still holds a statewide Masters Electrical License. He previously consulted in enterprise software development in the US and Europe. He conducts training seminars for professionals and general public on solar and renewable energy, as well as electric vehicle technology. Jeff holds Installer Certification in Solar Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal classifications from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).
Jeff was born and raised in New Orleans, and received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rice University in 1998.
Beau Dingler, Treasurer +
Beau Dingler is from Lake Charles, LA, and currently lives and works in New Orleans, LA. He graduated LSU in 2005 in Environmental Policy Management and Business. While at LSU, he served as Treasurer LSU Environmental Management Society for junior and senior year. In 2005, he co founded Geoshield Window Films which was awarded LSU Incubator Tenant of the Year 2005, and listed among the “LSU 100″ Fasting Growing Companies 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2011, he co-founded EcoproSolar Supply, LLC, a photovoltaic component distributor serving the Gulf Coast. He is currently co-owner and CEO of Ecopro.
Karla Loeb, Member +
Karla is a veteran renewable energy business developer specializing in green field projects, new market entry and regulatory and legislative affairs. As a business developer for the largest privately owned utility scale wind energy company in the US, Karla aided in the development and construction of 708+ MW of wind energy in Texas and developed over 300,000 acres of wind energy projects in 4 states. Additionally, Karla served as Co-chair of the Central Texas chapter of the Women of Wind Energy (WoWE) from 2008-2012 developing a quarterly speaking series of industry professionals and experts. Subjects included: storage, transmission, permitting, policy issues locally and nationally and environmental issues.
Before joining PosiGen in July of 2013 and moving back to her hometown of New Orleans, Karla’s years in Austin also included policy work in the City of Austin and in the Texas Legislature. Karla, alongside Texas State House Representative, Eddie Rodriguez, founded and developed the policy platform for the first ever, Farm-to-Table Caucus, focusing on food system sustainability issues in Texas and the Gulf of Mexico, including health and wellness and food desserts. Karla also served as a member of the Sustainable Food Policy Board for the City of Austin, appointed by Mayor Lee Leffingwell.
At PosiGen, Karla is in charge of coordinating legislative, administrative and regulatory efforts at the local, state and national levels. Her undertakings have established PosiGen as a leading industry expert on issues relating to low-to-moderate income households’ access to solar. Karla also led and coordinated the effort to establish PosiGen as the first Louisiana-based solar company to expand into markets beyond the state, opening PosiGen’s New York and Connecticut offices within a year of her hire date.
Marc Jones, Member +
Born and raised in the New Orleans area. Currently reside in Slidell. Married with 3 kids. Majored in accounting at Southeastern Louisiana (SLU). Started his professional career as accountant with Arthur Andersen. Started as a homebuilder in 2000 and am a licensed commercial and residential contractor. He is the founder and CEO of Marc Jones Construction and Sunpro Solar. Sunpro currently services all of South Louisiana.
Matthew Newman, Member +
Matthew Newman is a founding partner of Optimize Solar a licensed electrical & solar contractor based out of Baton Rouge, LA. Matthew is an experienced company builder who is enjoying the emerging solar industry and is involved in most aspects of the business. He brings his experience to the renewables industry and that experience allows Optimize Solar to focus on the needs of the customer and providing a higher quality finished product. Born into a hardware store owners family where he learned the nuts and bolts of business, Matthew has always maintained a keen interest in renewables and the engineering required to make the technology work. Matthew has always found a way to employ his variety of skills. Most notably is his founding of Evolved Industries, Inc. at the age of 24. Matthew along with his wife built and grew Evolved into the nation’s largest manufacturer of wildlife nutritional products. Matthew enjoyed developing his top selling brands of products for nearly 18 years, while overseeing the marketing and manufacturing of the goods until 2008 when he sold the company to a manufacturing group. Matthew attended LSU with a concentration of study in Finance and spent his initial years after college as a financial planner.
