New Construction Codes and Ammendments Effective 2-1-18
Public Notice From the Department of Public Safety and Corrections:
“Effective February 1, 2018, the 2015 International Building, 2015 International Residential Code, 2015 International Existing Building Code, 2015 International Plumbing Code, 2015 International Mechanical Code, 2015 International Fuel Gas Code, and 2014 National Electrical Code with any Louisiana amendments for a respective code shall be effective for any projects submitted on or after February 1, 2018.
It is the interpretation and intent of the Louisiana Uniform Construction Code Council that the term “submitted” shall be defined as submitted to the local jurisdiction or submitted to the Office of State Fire Marshal. Any project submitted, prior to February 1, 2018, to either entity SHALL BE ALLOWED to remain under the State Uniform Construction Code utilizing the 2012 I-codes with Louisiana amendments and the 2011 NEC for all plan reviews and permitting. All sub classification permits including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fuel gas etc. shall use the submittal date for the project as the effective date for code determination. They shall not use the individual permit date as the effective date for determining which code shall be in effect for that sub classification.
